La Quiaca & Yavi Day Trip

Cross the Quebrada de Humahuaca Gorge and head to the border between Argentina and Bolivia on our day trip to La Quiaca and Yavi. You'll visit two historic towns as well as the famous Laguna Colorada.

La Quiaca & Yavi Day Trip

Between 8:30 and 9 am, we'll meet you at your hotel in Tilcara and drive north to the village of Yavi. The drive will take 2 hours 45 minutes, offering views of the Quebrada de Humahuaca.

Upon arrival in Yavi, a guided tour will take place. Highlights include the Chapel of San Francisco, the façade of the Casa Marqués del Valle de Tojo, and a water mill. You will learn many facts during the tour.

Next, we will climb Cerro de los Ocho Hermanos and uncover the legend behind its name. At the summit, enjoy views of the red Laguna Colorada. Remember to bring your camera.

While exploring the mountain, petroglyphs depicting ancient life will be visible. Afterward, you'll have 1 hour of free time in Yavi for lunch before continuing the tour.

After lunch, we will proceed to La Quiaca to visit the International Bridge of Villazon, an important border crossing between Argentina and Bolivia, which will be discussed during our visit.

You will be returned to your hotel in Tilcara by 5:30 to 6 pm.
