History, colonial haciendas and a church in the shape of a boat are the highlights of this tour of Tlaxco. We'll visit the most iconic places of this Magical Town in the state of Tlaxcala.
Tlaxco Tour
Between 9 am and 10 am, we'll meet at the agreed meeting point and we'll go by minibus to the centre of Tlaxco to start a walking tour in which we'll get to know the history and the main monuments of this Magic Town. Located 2500 metres (8202 feet) above sea level, Tlaxco is one of the highest towns in Mexico. We will explore its streets, admiring its colonial architecture and learning about its history, including its first settlers and its role in the independence of the country.
On the guided tour, we'll enter a 17th-century hacienda, where we'll taste 'pulque', an alcoholic beverage made from the fermented sap of the maguey (agave) plant. Then, we will visit a carpentry workshop with various handicraft pieces, including a wooden car.
Next, we'll travel by minibus to the Barca de la Fe, a church shaped like a boat in the village of José María Morelos Buenavista, comparing it to the famous Santa Maria from Christopher Columbus's voyage. We'll conclude the tour between 3 pm and 4 pm, returning to the starting point.
