History, colonial haciendas and a church in the shape of a boat are the highlights of this tour of Tlaxco. We'll visit the most iconic places of this Magical Town in the state of Tlaxcala.
Tlaxco Tour
Between 9 am and 10 am, we'll meet at the agreed meeting point and travel by minibus to the center of Tlaxco for a walking tour to learn about its history and main monuments. Located 2500 metres (8202 feet) above sea level, Tlaxco is among the highest towns in Mexico. This walking tour will cover the colonial architecture, the first settlers, and Tlaxco's role in the country's independence.
During the guided tour, we will visit a 17th-century hacienda where we'll taste 'pulque', an alcoholic beverage made from the fermented sap of the maguey plant. Afterward, we will visit a carpentry workshop featuring various handcrafted pieces, including a wooden car.
Next, we will board a minibus to visit the Barca de la Fe, a church shaped like a boat in José María Morelos Buenavista. We will compare this structure to the famous Santa Maria that was part of Columbus' expedition to America.
We'll conclude the tour by returning you to the starting point between 3 pm and 4 pm.
