Don't miss this unique opportunity for a first-hand experience of Japan's national sport - participate in a sumo wrestler performance and enjoy a tasty lunch. You'll get to try your hand at fighting!

Sumo Fighting Experience

At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Yokozuna Tonkatsu Dosukoi Tanaka centre, where we'll take part in a sumo wrestlers' training while we discuss this traditional Japanese combat.

Sumo is the national sport of Japan, involving various rituals before and after the wrestling. Learn about the history, movements, training, and tournament, and enhance your trip to Japan.

You'll learn about the strict routine that wrestlers follow and the practices during training. You'll also learn some basic moves and have the opportunity to test them against one of the instructors.

Attending and participating in a sumo training session offers insights into the rituals and costumes of Japan's national sport and the sacrifices of practitioners.

After training, we'll proceed to the attached restaurant for an authentic Chanko Nabe lunch, a typical sumo wrestler's meal comprising a hearty stew with rice, meat or fish, potatoes, and vegetables.

The activity concludes at the restaurant after 2 hours of experience.
