Let yourself be amazed by the blend of Christian and Muslim influences that still come together in the Cathedral of Saint Mary of Toledo. You’ll uncover the secrets of the second-largest cathedral in Spain.
Tour Details
At the scheduled time, we’ll meet up in the Town Hall Square in the historic center of Toledo, next to the Cathedral. Once everyone has arrived, we’ll begin the guided tour. The Toledo Cathedral was built in 1226 on the remains of a former Visigothic church and a mosque.
We’ll start by looking at the main façade, famous for its monumental doors, including the Puerta de los Leones, known for its upper statues.
As we walk through the cathedral, we’ll admire its beautifully lit cloister, where light filters through the immense arches, creating a striking atmosphere.
Although the cathedral follows a Catholic tradition, it shows clear Muslim influence. Along the way, you’ll understand why Toledo is known as the city of the three cultures: Christian, Muslim, and Jewish.
We’ll explore the interior to discover the beauty of the choir, the main altar, the sacristy, and the chapter house, where religious activities take place.
Finally, after an hour and a half, the tour will conclude, and we'll say our goodbyes.
