Nevado de Toluca National Park Hikes

Tour Options

When making your reservation, you can choose between three different hiking routes. All routes start at 8 am from Calzada del Pacífico road in Toluca de Lerdo and include an English-speaking guide.

Tunnels Route (7 hours)

Upon arrival at the Nevado de Toluca National Park, we'll begin a 10-kilometer hike through the volcanic landscape, following trails lined with fir, cedar, and pine trees and discovering tunnels in the mountain. We'll explain the origin of these tunnels during the tour.

Gradually, we'll reach a lagoon at an altitude of over 9,500 feet (3100 meters) and take a 45-minute break to enjoy the views. At 3 pm, we'll return to the parking area.

Cañada Route (8 hours)

Starting at the foothills of the Nevado de Toluca National Park, this 7-kilometer route follows one of the rivers flowing down the slopes. We'll explore clearings, tunnels, and learn their historical uses.

After crossing the river to reach a lake, we'll enjoy views from over 9,500 feet (2,900 meters) with a 45-minute relaxation break. The activity concludes at 3 pm upon returning to the parking area.

Hill Route (9 hours)

This 13-kilometer hiking route starts at the foothills and leads us over slopes and through old tunnels. Once we reach nearly 10,500 feet (3,200 meters), we'll pause for 45 minutes to take photos and appreciate the landscape.

As we walk along a river, we'll discover a clearing with views of the park and a forest trail revealing the characteristics of local wildlife. At 5 pm, we will finish and return to the parking area.

Meeting Point

We'll meet at 8 am on Calzada del Pacífico road. Following the guide in your car, you will reach the foothills of the Nevado de Toluca National Park, where we'll leave our vehicles to start the hike.
