On this tour of Tomar, discover the most iconic locations in this city in the Ribatejo province and enjoy its local food.
Description
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the Tomar train station to begin our tour. First, we'll visit the Pegões Aquaduct, which stands at 30 metres (98 feet) in height and consists of 180 arches. Construction began in 1593 during the reign of Phillip I of Portugal.
Next, we proceed to Christ's Convent, a key monument in Portugal's architecture, recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. We will spend around 2 hours exploring this site and its gardens.
We'll then head to Tomar's historic centre, crossing Sepra Pinto Street to reach Republic Square, notable for its mosaic made of black and white diamonds. A short pause will allow you to grab something to eat.
Our tour continues around Mata dos Sete Montes, a 39-hectare park featuring various trees, including judas, oak, and olive trees. We will also observe a miniature replica of the towers of Christ's Covent.
Finally, we'll conclude our tour after a total of 7 hours, returning to the starting point.
