What was it like to live in the Roman Imperial period? You can discover this with a ticket to the Roman Villa Oplontis, an archaeological site in Torre Annunziata, Campania.
Why Visit the Villa Oplontis?
Located at Torre Annunziata, the archaeological site of Oplontis is one of the main Roman villas in Campania. With your ticket to Villa Oplontis, also known as Villa Popea, you can explore this ancient residence from the Roman Imperial period at your own pace. The remains are part of the archaeological parks of Pompeii, Herculaneum, and Torre Annunziata, all designated as World Heritage Sites.
The ticket includes an audio guide in English for insights into the villa's history. The polychrome frescoes depict aspects of society and daily life during the Roman Empire. Visit the gardens of Villa Oplontis, designed potentially by Poppaea Sabina, wife of Emperor Nero, who sought respite here from Rome.
The site also features a thermal area that was buried by lava during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius on August 24, 79 A.D.
Opening Times
The Villa Oplontis is open daily, except on Tuesdays, from 9 am to 4 pm. Please note that these times are subject to change and modifications.
