Liébana Monastery Pilgrimage
At 9:30 am we'll pick you up from the Pabellón Municipal La Habana Vieja in Torrelavega and head to Western Cantabria by minibus. After just 1 hour, we'll arrive in Potes, a notable village in the region of Liébana.
In Potes, you'll receive instructions on how to get to the Santo Toribio de Liébana Monastery. The 40-minute walk will allow you to obtain the Lebaniega pilgrimage credential. At the monastery, you'll see a fragment of the True Cross and can attend the daily pilgrim's mass at midday, where the True Cross, or Lignum Crucis, will be blessed.
After mass, you can visit the San Miguel Hermitage, a small Romanesque church 5 minutes from the monastery, which features a viewpoint offering views of the Picos de Europa. We'll reconvene in front of the hermitage to return to Potes by minibus.
In Potes, enjoy a lebaniego stew and then have 2 hours of free time to explore the village and visit its key monuments, such as the Casa del Oso Pardo (Brown Bear House) and the Infantado Tower.
We will then head to San Sebastián de Garabandal to visit Los Pinos, known for its reported Marian apparitions. The tour concludes with our return to Torrelavega, arriving at 7 pm.
