Description

The stunning Loire Valley beckons! Our adventure begins at the designated time from the Tourist Office in Tours. Enjoy a scenic minibus ride of only 40 minutes to reach the celebrated Château de Chenonceau, often hailed as the "Château des Dames" (Castle of Ladies). Are you aware of the notable women from the French Renaissance who elevated the reputation of this exquisite estate?

Famous for its elegant arches spanning the Cher River, the design is credited to one of the influential women who resided here. As we delve into its storied past, the castle reveals another fascinating detail: a significant female figure altered its name, transforming it from "Chenoceaux" to "Chenonceau." The reason behind this name change will be unveiled as we go along!

Our journey continues as we proceed to Amboise, a historic town perched on the banks of the Loire River. Here, we will visit one of the region's renowned wineries, the Caves Ambacia, where expert sommeliers will guide us through the enchanting underground galleries, culminating in a tasting of three exquisite French wines.

After a leisurely lunch on your own, our next destination is another impressive landmark of the Loire Valley: the Château de Chambord. Within this former royal palace, a pinnacle of the French Renaissance, we will discover how the Gallic kings fostered the arts and sciences during the 16th century. Notably, this monarch played a pivotal role in bringing Leonardo da Vinci to France for the later years of his illustrious life. Elements of the Tuscan genius’s influence are visible throughout the architectural design of Chambord.

Following our exploration of Château de Chambord, we will head back to Tours, reaching the Tourist Office after a fulfilling 9-hour day.
