With this visit to a tomato plantation, you'll uncover the secrets of Re Fiascone and taste some of the produce paired with an exquisite wine.
Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at Piazza Corsano to begin this experience in Tramonti, focused on the iconic flavours associated with the Amalfi Coast, including the tomato Re Fiascone.
We'll explore the fields where this product has been cultivated and preserved, thanks to the efforts of the Acarbio Association, dedicated to the environmental heritage of the Amalfi Coast.
The visit will begin with information about the history of Re Fiascone and details about the preservation project. This tomato, once common in the region until the 19th century, was at risk of extinction. Recent collaborations among farmers have helped to protect it.
Following the discussion on the characteristics of this seed and the tomato plantations, we'll participate in a tasting of local products.
We'll sample pagnotto, a bread made with ancient grains, along with Re Fiascone tomatoes and Garum, a fish-based sauce from Ancient Rome. This will be complemented with 2 glasses of red Tramonti wine, produced from an ancient variety of local grape.
At the end of the tasting, we'll conclude our tour after a total of 1.5 hours.
