Why Visit the Paleontological Museum?
The Egidio Feruglio Paleontological Museum, known as the MEF, is one of the main tourist attractions in Trelew, Chubut province. Many large dinosaur fossils have been discovered in the area, and most are exhibited here, making it one of the best museums in South America.
With your ticket, you will see the skeletons of colossal prehistoric animals, including the Tyrannotitan Chubutensis, from the Cretaceous period.
During your visit, learn about the dinosaurs of Patagonia, their diets, survival strategies, and adaptations to climate changes of that era. Interactive panels will enhance your understanding of these creatures.
The exhibition is organized chronologically into four stages: Cenozoic, Mesozoic, Paleozoic, and Precambrian eras. Notable rooms in the Mesozoic area focus on the Cretaceous and Jurassic periods.
