On this excursion to Lipica, you'll visit one of the oldest horse farms in Slovenia and the Škocjan Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Lipica Horse Farm & Škocjan Caves Excursion
After meeting at your selected location in Trieste, we'll head to an old stud farm in Lipica, where we'll learn about the famous Lipizzaner horse.
Upon arrival, we'll explore the farm surrounded by chestnut and oak trees. You'll learn about the history of the white Lipizzaner horse and the breeding tradition that dates back over 400 years.
After visiting the breeding farm, we'll proceed to the local Lipikum Museum to discover more about this horse breed. There may be an opportunity to see an equestrian show (not included).
Next, we'll head to the Škocjan Caves, recognized as one of the largest underground canyons in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We'll explore the caves, viewing impressive stalactites, rapids, and lakes, and cross a bridge situated 40 meters above an underground river for optimal canyon views.
Before returning to Trieste, we’ll explore the Škocjan Caves Regional Park, taking a stroll to observe significant geological and archaeological sites.
After five hours of exploration, we'll return to Trieste.
