Your journey begins with a pickup from your hotel in Trieste or a central gathering spot, setting the stage for an enriching day that highlights two notable attractions in Slovenia: the enchanting Postojna cave and the historic Predjama castle.

As we cross into Slovenia, our first destination is the Postojna cave, a must-visit site and one of Europe's iconic karst formations. Notably, it features the only underground electric train in the world, enhancing the visitor experience.

At Postojna, encounter one of the cave's intriguing residents: the proteus. We will traverse the cave's intricate tunnels, corridors, and expansive galleries, surrounded by a stunning display of stalactites and stalagmites that have been sculpted over millennia.

Emerging from the depths of the cave, we will proceed to our next highlight, Predjama castle. This stunning fortification, originating from the 13th century, perches dramatically on a cliff face 123 meters (400 feet) above the ground.

From the outside, we will take a moment to appreciate the medieval construction techniques that facilitated the building of such robust structures and discuss the historical significance of a fortress built at the entrance of a cave.

This castle once served as a haven for the notorious Erasmus de Lueg, whose stronghold offered protection from various enemies. Throughout our visit, we will delve into captivating stories about his life and connections to the castle.

After five hours exploring these Slovenian treasures, we will conclude our remarkable journey.
