We'll pick you up from your hotel in Trieste or at a central meeting point for a day trip to two key highlights of Slovenia: Postojna cave and Predjama castle. After crossing the border, we will reach Postojna cave, a prominent tourist attraction and one of Europe's most famous karst monuments, featuring the world's only underground electric train.

At Postojna, we will see the proteus, a famous cave inhabitant, as we explore the cave's tunnels, passageways, and galleries adorned with ancient stalactites and stalagmites. Next, we will visit Predjama castle, a fortress from the 13th century built on a rocky wall 123 meters (400 feet) high. We will examine architectural techniques from the Middle Ages and discuss the strategic significance of building a fortress at a cave entrance.

The castle was once a refuge for Erasmus de Lueg, and we will share details of his connection to the castle during the tour. After five hours of exploration, the day will conclude.
