Gran Mojos Birdwatching Activity

At 5 am, pickup from your hotel in Trinidad will commence as we travel in our jeep to the municipality of Loreto, located 25 miles (40 kilometers) away.

Upon arrival, we will visit the Gran Mojos Protected Area Visitor Centre to learn about the endangered species and Indigenous communities in the region.

Following this, breakfast will be served before we proceed to a local hacienda to attempt to see the blue-throated macaws, which number only 250 remaining in the wild and are endemic to the Moxos plains.

We will return to Loreto for lunch featuring fish and fruit before heading back to Trinidad, with drop-off at your hotel around 1 pm.

3-Day Tour

This option includes 2 days exploring the protected wildlife. The first day mirrors the previous description.

On the second day, pickup will again be at 5 am from your hotel, leading to another hacienda to observe multicoloured thrushes. After lunch, we will return to Trinidad while seeking different bird species.

The third day will start at 5 am with pickup from your hotel, where we will explore the Ibare-Mamoré municipal protected area, home to various birds and mammals including freshwater dolphins. We will return to Trinidad by approximately 3 pm.
