Ibare-Mamoré Protected Area Guided Tour

At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Trinidad and set off for Puerto Ballivián, the gateway to the Ibare-Mamoré Municipal Protected Area.

After traveling 5 miles (8 kilometres), we'll reach Puerto Ballivián. We'll board a boat and cruise along the Ibaré River for 2 hours. This river is known as the River of the Birds.

We will arrive at the junction where the Ibaré River meets the Marmoré River, making stops to visit the town of Loma Suárez and the community of San Carlos, featuring the Mapajo natural monument. We will walk to see tropical plant crops such as yucca, syringa, and banana trees.

Wildlife endemic to the Amazon, including the Manguari heron, the bato, and the river heron, may also be observed.

After our walk, we will head to the mouth of the Mamoré River to observe freshwater dolphins and swim in the warm water.

We'll return to the boat for a picnic lunch before taking a bus back to Trinidad, arriving at your hotel by 4 pm.

2-Day Tour

If you choose the 2-day option, another day is spent exploring the Ibare-Mamoré Municipal Protected Area.

After lunch on the boat, we will return to the community of San Carlos, where Florencio the farmer will offer us a dinner of fish or dried meat. We will then venture into the Bolivian Amazon for wildlife observation and camping overnight.

The next day, we'll have breakfast and then hike around the Usuni Lagoon, where we can admire the scenery and enjoy sport fishing. The catch of the day will be our lunch before returning to Puerto Ballivián to head back to your hotel in the afternoon.
