Hiking trails, boat trips, birdwatching, sport fishing await on our 1 or 2-day guided tour of the Ibare-Mamoré Protected Area in Bolivia.
Ibare-Mamoré Protected Area Guided Tour
At 8 am, pickup from your hotel in Trinidad and journey to Puerto Ballivián begins. After 5 miles (8 kilometers), we arrive at Puerto Ballivián and board a boat for a 2-hour cruise along the Ibaré River, also known as the River of the Birds.
During the trip, we'll reach the confluence of the Ibaré and Marmoré rivers, stopping at Loma Suárez and the community of San Carlos to explore the Mapajo natural monument and observe tropical plants like yucca, syringa, and banana trees. Wildlife viewing includes endemic Amazon species such as the Manguari heron, the bato, and the river heron.
Next, we set sail to the mouth of the Mamoré River to observe freshwater dolphins and swim in warm waters. A picnic lunch is provided on the boat before we return to Trinidad, arriving at your hotel by 4 pm.
2-Day Tour
This option includes an additional day in the Ibare-Mamoré Municipal Protected Area. After lunch on the boat, we return to San Carlos for dinner with farmer Florencio, featuring fish or dried meat. We then explore the Bolivian Amazon for wildlife observation and camping overnight.
The following day, we have breakfast and hike around Usuni Lagoon, enjoying the scenery and sport fishing. The catch of the day will be served for lunch before returning to Puerto Ballivián and to your hotel in the afternoon.
