Moxos Jesuit Missions & Coitarama Lagoon
At 6 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Trinidad and head north to the towns of San Javier and San Pedro, both significant Jesuit reductions in the Moxos province of southern Bolivia.
Our first destination will be San Javier, located on the right bank of the Mamoré River, where we will visit the Church of San Javier and learn about the colony's history before stopping for breakfast.
Next, we will proceed to the reduction of San Pedro to admire the church, which has been restored from the ruins of the old mission. Here, we'll enjoy lunch featuring fried fish or dried meat with a fruity drink.
After lunch, we will continue to the Coitarama Lagoon, also known as Pistola Lake. You will have the opportunity to admire the surrounding wildlife, including insects, endemic birds, and local mammals.
If weather conditions prevent us from visiting the lake, we will instead head to the banks of the Ipuru River to spot freshwater dolphins.
We will then return to Trinidad, dropping you off at your hotel around 6 pm.
