Discover one of the first Jesuit missions constructed in Bolivia on our day trip to San Ignacio de Moxos. You'll spend either 1 or 2 days exploring this town and visiting its attractions.

San Ignacio de Moxos Day Trip

At 6 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Trinidad and head towards San Ignacio de Moxos, a traditional town in southern Bolivia. Upon arrival, we'll stop for breakfast before beginning our tour of this former Jesuit colony.

We'll visit the Moxos Museum to learn about the province's folklore, then continue to the Musical Archive, which houses unique objects like 18th-century musical scores. Next, we'll see San Ignacio Church, built by Jesuits in the 17th century, noting its typical architecture and decorated interior with biblical scenes.

After visiting the church, we'll have lunch at a local restaurant and then head to the Cabildo Indigenal, responsible for the village's administrative management. We'll also visit a luthier's workshop to see wood craftsmanship, and conclude at the School of Music, which features a choir and orchestra, as well as the Moxos Ensemble. After a full day, we'll return to your hotel in the evening.

2-Day Tour

For those wanting more time, consider the 2-day tour of San Ignacio de Moxos. After the initial activities, you'll visit the Turino handicraft centre to learn about traditional crafts before overnighting at a local hotel. The next morning, we'll have breakfast at the hotel and walk to Isireri Lagoon, where you'll learn about its mysterious legend and have time to swim. After lunch in San Ignacio, we will return to Trinidad and drop you off at your hotel in the afternoon.
