Tropea Guided Tour

On this guided tour of Tropea, we'll visit the historic center of one of the most beautiful towns on the Tyrrhenian Sea in Calabria.

At the appointed time, we'll meet at Largo San Michele to begin the guided tour of Tropea. This town is recognized for its charm.

We'll explore the quaint alleys of Tropea and observe its architecture, including the Sanctuary of Santa Maria dell'Isola, its historic center, and notable white sandy beaches.

Our first stop will be the Cathedral of Maria Santissima di Romania, built in the 12th century by the Normans. We will discuss its Baroque transformation in the 17th century and its history of restoration following earthquakes.

We will then walk to the most beautiful viewpoints. Remember to bring your camera for capturing the views of the Tyrrhenian Sea and its blue waters.

We will also visit the acclaimed Sanctuary of Santa Maria dell'Isola. While official records date back to the 11th century, the rock where it stands was reportedly inhabited by hermits from the 7th to 8th centuries. Various intriguing facts will be shared during the tour.

After two and a half hours, we will conclude the guided tour of Tropea back at the meeting point.
