Details of the Day Trip
The adventure begins at 6:40 am in the Plaza de Armas, where we will set off towards Cascas, located a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Trujillo. During the journey, we will make a brief stop in the charming town of Sausal, allowing you to stretch and enjoy some breakfast.
Cascas is not only the capital of its district, but it also holds the prestigious title of being the capital of grapes and wine. As the first city in Peru to produce wine, it played a pivotal role in promoting the country's wines on the world stage. With a fantastic climate suitable for viticulture, Cascas is home to exquisite burgundies, rosés, and moscatos.
During our visit to Cascas, we will explore the remarkable Cristo de las Rocas, a stunning natural formation revered by locals for its striking resemblance to Jesus Christ. Nearby, you will find the Tree of a Thousand Roots, an ancient tree that showcases its extensive roots above ground. Additionally, we will be treated to the scenic El Molino Waterfall and the Corlas fish farm, where you'll have some free time to enjoy lunch at your leisure.
Following our explorations, we will gather at Cascas Square before heading to one of the region’s renowned vineyards. Here, you'll gain insight into the vital role that wine production plays in the local economy before indulging in a delightful tasting of some local wines. To that!
As the day winds down, we will depart Cascas and return to Trujillo, aiming to arrive back at our starting point around 8 pm.
