"If he came to Cascas and didn't drink wine, what did he come for?" This saying reflects the significance of wine in Cascas, known as the Peruvian capital of grapes and wine.
Cascas Excursion
We will meet at the Plaza de Armas at 6:40 am and depart for Cascas, a 2-hour 30-minute drive from Trujillo. We will stop at Sausal for a short break and breakfast.
Cascas is renowned as the capital of grapes and wine in Peru, noted for being the first wine-producing city in the country, contributing to the international market of specialties like burgundies, rosés, and moscatos. Its climate is ideal for grape cultivation.
During the tour, we will visit the Cristo de las Rocas, a natural monument symbolizing Jesus Christ, and the Tree of a Thousand Roots, a millenary tree with visible roots. We will also see the El Molino Waterfall and Corlas fish farm, where you will have free time for lunch.
Afterward, we will visit Cascas Square and proceed to a local vineyard to learn about winegrowing in the area and taste wines from Cascas.
Finally, we will leave Cascas and return to Trujillo, arriving at approximately 8 pm.
