Cascas Excursion
We will meet in the Plaza de Armas at 6:40 am and depart for Cascas, located a 2-hour 30-minute drive from Trujillo. A stop will be made in Sausal for breakfast and to stretch your legs.
Cascas, the capital of its district, is renowned as the capital of grapes and wine. Known as the first wine-producing city in Peru, it plays a significant role in enhancing the international presence of Peruvian specialties like burgundies, rosés, and moscatos, benefiting from an ideal climate for grape cultivation.
During the tour, we will visit significant sites such as the Cristo de las Rocas, a natural monument resembling Jesus Christ, and the Tree of a Thousand Roots, noted for its extensive above-ground roots. Additionally, we will explore the picturesque El Molino Waterfall and the Corlas fish farm, where you will have free time for lunch.
Next, we will visit Cascas Square and head to one of the local vineyards. After learning about the region's viticulture, you will have the chance to taste some wines from Cascas.
We will then return to Trujillo, aiming to arrive back at the starting point around 8 pm.
