With this tour of Chan Chan and the Huanchaco seaside resort, we'll immerse ourselves in ancient Peruvian culture and discover one of the most important pre-Hispanic cities in America.
Activity Details
We'll meet on Jiron Orbegoso Street in Trujillo before embarking on a journey to the pre-Columbian site of Chan Chan, an ancient adobe city from the Chimu kingdom. After an hour-long trip, we'll arrive at this remarkable settlement, recognized as the largest clay city globally.
We will spend an hour and a half exploring the Nik An Palace, known for its monochromatic reliefs.
Following our visit to Chan Chan, we will proceed to Huanchaco Beach, famous for its strong waves. Derived from "guaukocha," meaning "lagoon of golden fish," you'll have about an hour of free time in Huanchaco to enjoy lunch or a stroll along the beach, where you can see the caballitos de totora, traditional boats made from local reeds.
Afterward, we'll return to Trujillo, arriving at your hotel approximately 4 hours after the tour commences.
