Travel back in time to the origins of the Moche civilisation, one of the oldest in America, on this tour of the temples of the Sun and the Moon.
Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Jiron Orbegoso Street. Once gathered, we'll head towards the Moche countryside to see the structures that belonged to the Moche culture.
Upon arrival, we'll see the enormous walls of the Temple of the Sun and the nearby Temple of the Moon.
We will enter these constructions, walking through different levels while admiring the wall paintings that preserve warrior and religious motifs. These paintings depict the rites and ceremonies of the Mochicas, including the human sacrifices made in the central square of the temple.
During the tour, we'll observe the effects of erosion on the temples from winds and rains. While at the Temple of the Sun, we'll discuss the history of illegal looting that affected these constructions.
After an hour and a half of exploration, we'll head to the village of Huaca Chica, where you will have two hours of free time to enjoy a meal at a local restaurant.
After visiting Huaca Chica, we'll return to the Plaza de Armas in Trujillo and conclude the tour approximately 4 hours after it begins.
Partial Closures
The Huaca del Sol is closed until further notice, so it will only be visible from a distance.
