Embark on a journey to uncover the foundations of the Moche civilisation, one of the earliest cultures in the Americas, through a visit to the revered temples of the Sun and the Moon.
Tour Overview
At the scheduled time, our meeting point will be Jiron Orbegoso Street. Once everyone is present, we will set off towards the Moche countryside to explore the remains of this remarkable culture.
Upon arrival at the site, we will witness the massive structures of the Temple of the Sun, and nearby, the impressive Temple of the Moon will come into view.
Entry into these magnificent edifices allows us to traverse various levels while admiring the striking colors of the walls, which still showcase artwork depicting warrior and spiritual themes. You'll encounter illustrations that narrate the rituals and ceremonies of the Moche, including the human sacrifices conducted in the temple's central square.
Throughout the exploration, the impact of natural erosion from wind and rain on the temples will be evident. As we contemplate the Temple of the Sun, stories of illegal excavators who previously ransacked these sites will be shared.
After an hour and a half immersed in these historical structures, we will proceed to the village of Huaca Chica, where you can enjoy two hours of leisure time to savor a meal at a local establishment.
With renewed energy and after our visit to Huaca Chica, we will return to the Plaza de Armas in Trujillo, concluding our tour approximately four hours after we commenced.
