Pyramids of the Sun + The Moon Tour

Travel back in time to the origins of the Moche civilisation on this tour of the temples of the Sun and the Moon.

Description

At the indicated time, we'll meet at Jiron Orbegoso Street. We will then head towards the Moche countryside to see the structures that belonged to the Moche culture.

Upon arrival, we will see the walls of the Temple of the Sun and the Temple of the Moon, both significant constructions.

Participants will enter these impressive structures and walk through their levels while admiring the colors of their walls, which still preserve paintings with warrior and religious motifs. These artworks illustrate the rites and ceremonies of the Mochicas, including human sacrifices made in the central square of the temple.

During the tour, we will observe the effects of erosion on the temples due to winds and rains. While admiring the Temple of the Sun, we will learn about the history of the illegal looters who plundered these constructions.

After an hour and a half of exploring, we will head to the village of Huaca Chica, where you will have two hours of free time to enjoy a meal at a local restaurant.

After visiting Huaca Chica, we will return to the Plaza de Armas in Trujillo and conclude the tour approximately 4 hours after it begins.
