Tour Details
At the indicated time, you'll be picked up from your hotel in Tunis to begin your guided tour of Carthage and Sidi Bou Said.
The first stop will be at the archaeological site of ancient Carthage. You will visit Byrsa hill, where you can view the ruins of the historic capital founded by the Phoenicians in the 9th century BCE. The city was later conquered by the Romans and occupied by the Arabs. With your English-speaking guide, you will explore these ruins, including the military and commercial ports significant to Carthaginian maritime control.
Next, you will visit the Tophet of Carthage, a sacred site that served as a cemetery and sanctuary for the deities Tanit and Baal. Here, you will see Carthaginian funerary and religious artwork preserved over the centuries.
The journey continues to the coastal town of Sidi Bou Said, located ten minutes from ancient Carthage. As you stroll through its lanes, you'll notice the contrast between the whitewashed houses and the blue of their doors and windows, complemented by views of the Mediterranean Sea.
Sidi Bou Said is notable for its lively atmosphere, shops, and cafes where you can shop for souvenirs or enjoy a beverage while taking in panoramic views.
After your visit, you will return to Tunis, where you will be dropped off at your hotel after a total of 6 hours.
