Description

Day 1: Tunis

Your adventure begins on arrival at Tunis-Carthage International Airport, where you'll be welcomed and guided to your hotel. This establishment is conveniently located in the city center, within close proximity to the vibrant Medina of Tunis. After settling in, enjoy your first dinner and a restful night.

Day 2: Tunis - Carthage - Sidi Bou Said - Tunis

Following breakfast, you will be collected from your hotel to visit the medina. Discover the lively souks and gain insights into local artisan crafts. Next, we will journey north to Carthage, with a break for lunch at a local eatery along the way.

Your exploration continues at the archaeological site of Carthage, which overlooks the Mediterranean Sea. Learn about this ancient Phoenician settlement that thrived as the capital of the Carthaginian Empire and delve into the intriguing narratives surrounding the Punic Wars against the Romans.

Next, we head to Sidi Bou Said, where you'll have the chance to wander this captivating village recognized for its distinctive white buildings with blue accents.

At day's end, you will be returned to your Tunis hotel for dinner and rest.

Day 3: Tunis - Testour - Dougga - Zaghouan - Sousse

After a leisurely breakfast, we'll travel to Testour, a charming Andalusian-inspired village. Here, you'll visit the remarkable clock of the Great Mosque, known for its unconventional mechanics of reversing hands – a peculiar wonder indeed!

We will then proceed to the impressive ruins of Dougga, making several stops along the way, including the Rose of the Winds Square and the thermal baths.

A break for lunch will follow, leading to our visit to Zaghouan, home of the Temple of the Waters, an ancient aqueduct from the time of Hadrian that supplied Carthage with water – a sight to behold!

We will conclude our day in Sousse, where you will enjoy a delightful dinner.

Day 4: Sousse - El Djem - Matmata - Douz

On the fourth day, following breakfast in Sousse, we'll make our way to El Djem. There, we will explore one of Tunisia's most significant monuments: the El Djem amphitheatre, which ranks as the third-largest amphitheatre worldwide. Its well-preserved limestone construction offers a glimpse into the grandeur of ancient Thysdrus, a once-thriving Roman city.

Next, we will visit Matmata and its unique cave houses, which provide refuge from the harsh climate. You'll have time for lunch at a nearby restaurant.

The day's final destination will be Douz, known as the gateway to the Sahara Desert, where a drive across the shimmering Sahara dunes into the sunset awaits.

You'll spend the night at a hotel in Douz after a delightful dinner.

Day 5: Douz - Debebcha - Chott el Djerid - Ong Jemel - Tozeur

Upon enjoying breakfast in Douz, our adventure continues. We will make a stop at Debebcha to take in the stunning sandstone formations.

Next, we will cross the expansive Chott el Jerid, a salt flat celebrated for its mirages and an impressive location that sits just above sea level. Here, you can capture fantastic photographs!

Our journey leads us to Tozeur, where we will check into our hotel and have lunch. In the afternoon, we will embark on an off-road excursion to the beautiful oases of Chebica, Tamerza, and Ong Jemel, known for being featured in numerous films, including The English Patient and Star Wars.

We’ll return to Tozeur for a satisfying dinner and rest for the night.

Day 6: Tozeur - Kairouan - Sousse

After breakfast, we will depart for the Atlas Mountains to visit Kairouan, recognized as the fourth-holiest city in Islam and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll enjoy a panoramic tour of the Great Mosque, the essential mosque in the Maghreb, known for its stern beauty and expansive marble courtyard, as well as its ancient square minaret.

We will also explore the Barber's Mausoleum, a site that holds the relics of a companion of the Prophet Muhammad, embodying the profound spirituality of Kairouan.

Time will be set aside for lunch, followed by an opportunity to discover the medina and its traditional souks. Stroll through its winding streets, vibrant markets filled with dates, textiles, and ceramics.

We conclude our day at our hotel in Sousse for dinner and a night’s rest.

Day 7: Sousse

On the seventh day, you'll have a leisurely day, enjoying half-board to explore Sousse at your own pace. The city boasts a magnificent Medina, classified as a World Heritage Site, alongside vibrant Arab bazaars that exude a unique charm. Optional private day trips from Sousse can also be scheduled for those interested.

We'll gather for dinner at our Sousse hotel in the evening.

Day 8: Sousse - Tunis

On your final day, following breakfast, we will return to Tunis, ensuring timely arrival at Tunis-Carthage Airport for your flight. As our tour comes to a close, we will bid farewell and celebrate the memorable journey through Tunisia.
