Zaghouan Aqueduct and the Roman Water Temple are key sites for understanding Tunisia's history. Discover them with a professional English-speaking guide.

Zaghouan Day Trip Itinerary

Your day trip begins at 8 am with hotel pick-up in Tunis. After a thirty-minute drive, you will arrive at the Roman aqueduct of Zaghouan.

This aqueduct was built in the second century under Emperor Hadrian to address the water supply issue in northern Africa. It connected a water source at Zaghouan with the ancient city of Carthage. Much of the aqueduct is still standing, and you will explore this engineering feat while your guide explains its construction and design.

Next, the tour continues to the outskirts of Zaghouan to visit the Roman Water Temple, also constructed under Emperor Hadrian. As you view the curved portico, your guide will discuss the importance of this sacred spring in ancient times.

After the Water Temple, you will enjoy a traditional meal of Turkish specialties at a restaurant in central Zaghouan. The meal features a fusion of Mediterranean and Arab cuisines.

Your return to Tunis is scheduled for around 5 pm, with drop-off at your hotel.
