Gorkhi-Terelj National Park & Genghis Khan Statue Tour
On the day of your excursion, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Ulaanbaatar at 9:30 am and set off to the Gorkhi-Terelj National Park. The journey will take approximately one hour.
Arriving in the national park, we'll delve into its landscapes and admire the unique characteristics of the Mongolian steppe. One of the most emblematic features of Terelj is an enormous rock formation in the shape of a giant turtle. We'll also visit the Ariyabal Meditation Temple, a Buddhist monastery located on a hilltop.
Afterwards, we'll have the opportunity to spend an hour exploring the Gorkhi-Terelj National Park on horseback, before meeting a local family to learn about the traditional nomadic way of life in Mongolia.
Having worked up an appetite, we'll stop for lunch to enjoy some typical Mongolian delicacies. After eating, we'll head back to the minibus for the journey to the largest equestrian statue in the world.
After a thirty-minute drive, we'll reach our destination: the Genghis Khan Statue Complex. As we view this 131-foot (40 metre) tall stainless-steel statue, we'll learn about its legendary subject, the founder, and first emperor of the Mongolian Empire. We'll also enjoy the views from the top of the statue.
At the end of the tour, we'll return to Ulaanbaatar, dropping you back off at your hotel at around 4:30 pm.
