Abrics de l'Ermita Rock Art

We'll meet at the time of your choice at the Pietat Chapel, located on the road between Tortosa and Ulldecona.

The tour will begin with a brief introduction to the spirituality behind the Levantine cave paintings in this area of Catalonia. Questions regarding their representation and the origins of the dyes will be addressed during our visit to the Abrics de l'Ermita Rock Art Interpretation Centre, where we will learn about life 7000 years ago.

Following the centre visit, we will walk to see three of the nine preserved shelters around the chapel. Inside these caves, we will view a set of cave paintings designated as a World Heritage Site.

This rock art from the Neolithic period embodies the civilization's beliefs and myths, particularly related to hunting, and serves as a depiction of their rituals on stone. These gatherings often took place in natural areas offering protection from weather elements.

Two hours later, our guided tour concludes with breathtaking views of the region of El Montsiá and the Serra de Godall mountain range.
