Discover the fascinating Train Cemetery, Uyuni salt flats, the Cañapa Lagoon, and the Dali Desert on this 3-day tour of the Salar de Uyuni and its surrounding area.
Salar de Uyuni 3 Day Trip
Day 1
The tour begins with a pickup from your hotel, airport, or bus station in Uyuni. The first stop is the Train Cemetery, featuring abandoned trains from the late 19th and early 20th century. Next, visit the indigenous community of Colchani to learn about traditional iodized salt production.
We then explore the Salar de Uyuni, the largest salt flat in the world, including the Salt Piles and the first salt hotel. After a Bolivian lunch, a short trek around Incahuasi Island features giant cacti. The day concludes with a sunset over the salt flats and dinner in Candelaria or San Juan, where the first night will be spent.
Day 2
On the second day, enjoy breakfast before touring the Eduardo Abaroa National Reserve. Visit San Juan for views of the Ollagüe Volcano, followed by lunch. The lakes of Cañapa, Charchota, Honda, and Hedionda are next, where you can see pink flamingos. Explore the Siloli Desert and see notable formations like the Stone Tree and the Colorada Lagoon, known for its red waters. The day ends in Huayllajara with dinner and rest.
Day 3
After breakfast, visit nearby geysers and the Salvador Dali Desert. Proceed to the saltwater lagoons of Laguna Verde and Laguna Blanca before exploring Valle de Rocas and stopping in San Cristóbal, home to an ancient church and Bolivia's largest gold mine. The tour concludes around 5:30 pm back at your hotel in Uyuni.
