Why Visit the Hortensia Herrero Art Centre?
The Hortensia Herrero Art Centre is dedicated to contemporary art and is located in the Valeriola Palace, a 17th-century building at Number 31 on Calle del Mar, in the historic centre of Valencia. Your ticket grants access to various rooms with an audio guide in English. The tour features exhibitions of 20th and 21st-century sculptures and paintings from the private collection of Hortensia Herrero.
Highlights of the permanent exhibition include Tunnel for Unfolding Time by Olafur Eliasson and the Tempesta letters by Jaume Plensa. Notable works also include Cristina Iglesias' Mineral Transit, Mat Collishaw's Transformer, and Sean Scully's stained glass installation Landline Heat.
The centre also showcases the history of Valencia, featuring archaeological remains such as a Roman circus, an old Jewish quarter alley, a medieval oven, and an Islamic period fountain.
