For centuries, Valencia was home to the Gremi de Velluters, producers of silk velvet. The booming silk industry originated with Genoese artisans and was solidified during the 15th century, contributing to the city's wealth. The Silk Museum provides insights into the history of this trade, including worm breeding and silk production on looms. In Valencia, there were almost 5000 looms. You'll see tools and machines used in silk production, as well as samples of silk velvet and traditional costumes.
Museum Timetables
The Silk Museum is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 7 pm and Sundays and holidays from 10 am to 2:30 pm.
Special Hours in April & May
On Sundays, April 9, 16, 23, and 30, the museum is open from 10 am to 7 pm.On Mondays, April 10, 17, and 24, the museum is open from 10 am to 2:30 pm.On Monday, May 1, the museum is open from 10 am to 2:30 pm.
