Valencia Cathedral + Borgia Heritage Tour
Your guided exploration of the Borgia Family will commence at the scheduled hour at Manises Square, situated directly in front of the Palace of the Generalitat.
After a brief overview at the presidential palace, we’ll set off to trace the Borgia Heritage. This formidable family, hailing from the Zaragoza area of Borja, made their mark in the Levante coastal towns of Jativa and Gandia, establishing a significant presence in the region.
As we wander through Valencia, we will stop at various churches and palaces to admire their architecture and discover the unique symbols associated with the Borgia family embedded within these structures. The Borgia family also curated an impressive collection of art, including the famous Holy Grail. Is there truth to this tale? Our visit to the Valencia Cathedral will seek to answer that question!
Upon entering the cathedral, we will further investigate the illustrious Borgia legacy, particularly their close relationships with the church. Notably, two family members ascended to the papacy: Calixtus III and Alexander VI.
After approximately 2.5 hours, our journey will conclude at St. Lawrence Square, home to the current Valencian Parliament, located within the Palace of Benicarló. An interesting tidbit: this site was also part of the Borgia family's extensive holdings!
