Cachagua Island Penguin Watching

Spend the day visiting one of Chile's main Humboldt penguin colonies on our excursion to Cachagua Island. We will depart from Viña del Mar to see these animals up close.

Cachagua Island Penguin Watching

At 9 am, we will pick you up from your hotel in Viña del Mar and head north. Our route will run parallel to the Pacific Ocean, passing through Reñaca, Concón, and the mouth of the Aconcagua River.

We will arrive in Zapallar, where we will board a fishermen's boat to Cachagua Island, home to a significant colony of Humboldt penguins. During this 1-hour boat trip, we will also observe pelicans, seagulls, and ducks, as this area supports a diverse ecosystem.

The boat trip will conclude at the Zapallar dock. We will then visit a local empanada bar to enjoy this Chilean snack, along with a drink of your choice, either a soft drink or mineral water.

After the snack, we will return you to your hotel in Viña del Mar, arriving by 3 pm.

Animal Sightings

Cachagua Island is a prime location for spotting Humboldt penguins. However, animal sightings can vary due to factors such as weather and breeding seasons.
