Cachagua Island Penguin Watching

At 9 am, pickup is from your hotel in Valparaíso. We drive north through Viña del Mar, Reñaca, Concón, and the mouth of the Aconcagua River.

After a 1-hour 30-minute drive along the Pacific coast, we arrive in Zapallar. Here, we board a fishermen's boat for a trip to Cachagua Island, home to a major Chilean colony of Humboldt penguins.

During the 1-hour boat trip, we'll observe penguins and other coastal birds such as pelicans, seagulls, and neotropic cormorants. Numerous species have been recorded in this area.

Upon returning to Zapallar, we’ll visit a local empanada place to enjoy this Chilean dish along with a drink, choosing between soda or mineral water.

Finally, we’ll return to your hotel in Valparaíso, arriving at 3 pm.

Cachagua Island is an excellent spot to see Humboldt penguins. However, animal sightings can vary due to factors such as weather and breeding seasons of different species.
