Tour Details

We'll meet up at your hotel at 10:30 am to start a tour of the alternative side of Valparaiso. You will explore the contrasts of the cultural and human heritage of this iconic Chilean city.

First, we'll visit the Barrio Puerto, one of the city's oldest areas. Here, you will learn about its designation as a Heritage Site due to its architectural and cultural significance, as well as its small family-run shops, bars, and old chemists' shops.

Next, we'll visit the church of La Matriz, located in the heart of the historic center. This church plays an essential role in providing humanitarian aid in the Barrio Puerto, and we will learn about its contributions and community involvement.

We will also see the Mercado Puerto, an architectural gem that retains elements of Valparaíso's daily life. While it is less active than in the past, it still features traditional stalls like bakeries and neighbourhood shops. From there, we will head to Santo Domingo Hill for panoramic views of Valparaíso's contrasts.

To conclude, we'll share a traditional lunch with a family on the oldest hill in Valparaíso, followed by a visit to the home of a puppet artist, where you'll experience a miniature lambe-lambe theatre show. This intimate performance will provide an emotional conclusion to the tour.

We will return to your hotel at 3:30 pm.
