Chilean Cooking Class and Lunch in Valparaíso

Our adventure begins at 10 am, meeting at Sotomayor Square, right in front of the Valparaíso Fire Brigade headquarters. We will then take the metro to the bustling Caleta Portales area, where we will gather the ingredients necessary to prepare a mouthwatering Chilean ceviche.

Our first stop will be a vibrant fresh fish stall, where we will select the key ingredients for our dish. Following this, we will head to either the Cardonal Market or the Produce Fair on Avenida Argentina. There, we will pick out fresh vegetables and lemons essential for crafting a refreshing pisco sour, a cherished Chilean beverage that you are sure to enjoy! Additionally, we’ll select seasonal fruits to sweeten our dessert.

Next, we’ll visit a traditional botillería, a shop focused on liquors and various alcoholic beverages. Here, we’ll choose a bottle of wine to complement our meal. After gathering all our supplies, we will journey to a private residence on Santo Domingo Hill, where a welcoming family from Valparaíso will guide our cooking class.

During this class, you will master the art of making a classic Chilean ceviche, which will be served alongside pisco sour and fluffy traditional bread pancakes known as churrascas. As you relish your delicious meal paired with excellent local wine, the family will share insights about Valparaíso’s rich culinary heritage and traditions.

Once lunch concludes, we will return via metro to our initial meeting point, wrapping up our experience around 2 pm to bid farewell.
