For those seeking to explore the genuine and less commercial aspects of Venice, this excursion through the Rialto area and the Jewish Quarter is essential. Engage in a captivating journey that unveils the rich history of one of the world’s most exquisite cities.
Tour Overview
We will gather at the designated time next to the Santa Lucia Station to embark on this remarkable walking tour, guiding us through some of Venice's most stunning and hidden gems.
Our first stop will be the old Jewish Quarter, accessed via the Ponte delle Guglie (Bridge of the Needles). Here, we will delve into the streets synonymous with the origin of the term 'ghetto'. Throughout our journey, the guide will share enlightening stories about the history and experiences of the Jewish community from bygone eras.
We will then move on along Strada Nova, the main pedestrian thoroughfare in Venice, leading us to Rialto, historically recognized as the city's commercial and financial hub. While admiring the stunning views of the Rialto Bridge, you may savor a delightful 'cicchetto' to enjoy the lively surroundings.
Following this break, we’ll stroll towards the renowned Piazza San Marco. After capturing some memorable photographs, we will board a motorboat for a 30-minute scenic ride through the canals of Venice.
The tour will conclude back at the meeting point, lasting approximately two hours in total.
Conclusion of the Tour
Upon finishing the tour at St Mark's Square, the guide will inquire if you wish to take the boat back to the starting location or prefer to remain in St Mark's to further explore Venice independently. This transport option is included in the tour price, though participation in the boat ride is optional, and we request you confirm with the guide once prompted.
Essential Information
Please keep in mind that in case of inclement weather or unfavorable conditions, the boat ride may be canceled. If the boat trip cannot be conducted, the activity will conclude at St. Mark's Square, and no refunds will be issued.
Gondola Experience
Should the entire group agree, there is an opportunity to take a ferry-gondola ride across the Grand Canal for a fee of 2EUR per person. Be aware that this particular activity is unavailable during the winter months.
