La Antigua & Cempoala Tour

Pickup from your hotel in Veracruz is at 9 am, followed by a visit to the archaeological site of Cempoala. This ancient site is significant as the capital of the Totonaca people's Totonacapan kingdom and was the first urban settlement encountered by the Spanish in the Americas.

You'll enjoy a guided tour of Cempoala, exploring key structures such as the Sun Temple, the temple dedicated to the wind god Ehécatl, the Temple of the Chimneys, among others. If timing permits, you might witness the Ritual Ceremony of the Voladores de Papantla, a fertility dance where four participants climb and descend a pole in respect for nature and the spiritual universe.

After the tour of Cempoala, proceed to the town of La Antigua, recognized as the first real Spanish town established in the Americas. Visits include the Ermita del Rosario church, the Casa del Cabildo (the first Spanish city hall on the continent), and the residence of Hernán Cortés. An old tree with a unique story will also be presented during the tour.

The tour concludes with a return to your hotel in Veracruz, arriving around 2 pm.
