La Antigua & Cempoala Tour

After picking you up from your hotel in Veracruz at 9 am, we head to the archaeological site of Cempoala. This site is one of the key Mesoamerican locations, the capital of the Totonac people's Totonacapan kingdom, and the first urban settlement encountered by the Spanish in the Americas.

Enjoy a guided tour of Cempoala, visiting important structures like the Sun Temple, the temple dedicated to the wind god Ehécatl, and the Temple of the Chimneys. If conditions permit, you may witness the Ritual Ceremony of the Voladores de Papantla, a fertility dance performed by four individuals who climb and descend a pole in reverence to nature and the spiritual universe.

After the Cempoala tour, we proceed to La Antigua, regarded as the first Spanish town established in the Americas. Sites visited include the Ermita del Rosario church, the Casa del Cabildo, the first Spanish city hall on the continent, and the residence of Spanish colonizer Hernán Cortés. A unique tree with an intriguing story will also be highlighted during the tour.

By 2 pm, we will return you to your hotel in Veracruz.
