La Antigua & San Juan de Ulúa Tour
At 9 am, we will pick you up at your hotel in Veracruz for a trip to La Antigua, located 28 kilometers (17 miles) from the port. After a 40-minute minibus ride, we will arrive at one of the first institutionalized European villages in the New World.
In La Antigua, we will visit sites such as the Casa del Cabildo, the Chapel of the Rosary, and the house of Hernán Cortés. You can see the millenary trees, including the famous Ceiba tree, where Cortés is believed to have moored his caravels upon his arrival in America.
Next, we will proceed to San Juan de Ulúa, a fortress island off the Veracruz port, known for safeguarding Spanish ships and serving as a prison during the Mexican Independence and Revolution.
After touring the fortress, we will have a panoramic view of the port and the historic center of Veracruz, seeing the telegraph building, the Malecon, the bastion of Santiago, and other significant buildings.
We will conclude our tour in Boca del Río, known for its beaches and scenic views of the Jamapa River. Notable sites include Banderas Square, Santa Ana Church, and the Municipal Palace, returning to hotels by approximately 2 pm.
