Hernán Cortés, pirates, Mexican revolutionaries.. In this tour to La Antigua and San Juan de Ulúa, we'll learn about the history of Mexico. Additionally, we visit the port of Veracruz and Boca del Río.

La Antigua & San Juan de Ulúa Tour

At 9 am, we will pick you up at your hotel in Veracruz and journey to La Antigua, located 28 kilometers (17 miles) from Veracruz. After a 40-minute minibus ride, we arrive at the first institutionalized European village in the 'New World'.

We will explore its streets to visit sites such as the Casa del Cabildo, the Chapel of the Rosary, and the house of Hernán Cortés, the conquistador who contributed to the cultural union here.

In La Antigua, we'll see the millenary trees and the famous Ceiba tree, where Hernán Cortés is believed to have moored his caravels upon his arrival in America.

Next, we'll proceed to San Juan de Ulua, an island fortress in front of the port of Veracruz, one of the oldest fortresses in America. This place protected Spanish ships, served as a defense against pirates, and later functioned as a prison during the Mexican Independence and Revolution.

After the fortress visit, we will take a panoramic tour of the port and historic center of Veracruz, viewing the telegraph building, the Malecon, the bastion of Santiago, and other significant buildings.

Our tour concludes with a visit to Boca del Río, known for its beaches and views of the Jamapa River, where we will see Banderas Square, Santa Ana Church, and the Municipal Palace.

We will return to the hotels around 2 pm.
