Discover the castle of San Juan de Ulúa with our guided tour from Veracruz. This fortress has served various purposes over the centuries, including dock, warehouse, military barracks, high-security prison, and the seat of the federal government.

Tour Details

We will meet at 12 pm at the Plaza Acuario in Veracruz for transport to San Juan de Ulúa. Upon arrival at this small island near the port of Veracruz, we will begin our guided tour to explore this 500-year-old fortress.

San Juan de Ulúa gained notoriety during its time as a prison. During the tour, we will discover the conditions faced by prisoners and visit their cells to understand their reality. You will learn about legendary inmates, Chucho el Roto and the Mulatto of Córdoba, and their fascinating stories.

We will also visit the Tower of San Pedro, offering views of the coast and port, a great opportunity for souvenir photos.

After the guided tour, we will return to Plaza Acuario with a transport time of approximately 30 minutes.
