Discover the castle of San Juan de Ulúa on our guided tour from Veracruz. This fortress has served various purposes throughout the centuries, including dock, warehouse, military barracks, high-security prison, and the seat of the federal government.

Tour Details

We will meet at 12 pm at the Plaza Acuario in Veracruz before taking transport to San Juan de Ulúa. Upon arrival at this small island next to the port of Veracruz, we will begin our guided tour to explore the 500-year-old fortress.

As a former prison, San Juan de Ulúa became notorious in the country. We will learn about the conditions for the prisoners and visit their cells to understand their reality.

You will hear stories about Chucho el Roto and the Mulatto of Córdoba, two legendary inmates with fascinating backgrounds.

We will also visit the Tower of San Pedro for views of the coast and the port, providing an opportunity for souvenir photographs.

After the tour, we will return to Plaza Acuario by transport, arriving in approximately 30 minutes.
