Pont du Gard
This well-preserved Roman aqueduct, built in the 1st century AD, operated as an aqueduct until the 6th century. It was used as a toll road in the Middle Ages and as a conventional road from the 18th to the 20th century. Restored in 2000, it retains its original appearance.
Pont du Gard Museum
The underground museum presents an exhibition detailing the construction of the aqueduct, completed by 1,000 men over five years, resulting in a structure weighing almost 50,000 tonnes. The exhibition features virtual reconstructions, films, and panels focused on Roman engineering and architecture.
Memories of the Garrigue
The adjacent open-air exhibition showcases the history of Mediterranean agriculture and remains of the aqueduct.
Pont du Gard Cinema
A documentary combining reality and fiction about the aqueduct is shown in the cinema.
