Gil Eannes Naval Museum
With this ticket, you'll have access to the Gil Eannes ship, moored in Viana do Castelo, converted into a museum. You can explore the ship's kitchen, operating theatre, chapel, and engine room. The vessel, which embarked on its first voyage in 1955 and concluded its last diplomatic trip to Brazil in 1973, served various purposes including assisting cod fishermen, operating as a hospital ship, a tugboat, and an icebreaker. Its predecessor was an auxiliary cruise ship for the Portuguese Navy during World War I. You will learn about its history and the details of its voyages.
