Gil Eannes Naval Museum

This ticket grants access to the Gil Eannes ship, moored in Viana do Castelo and now serving as a museum. Visitors can explore various facilities onboard, including the kitchen, operating theatre, chapel, and engine room.

From its first voyage in 1955 until its last diplomatic trip to Brazil in 1973, the ship served multiple purposes. It assisted cod fishermen on the Grand Banks of Newfoundland and Greenland, functioned as a hospital ship, served as a tug boat, and even acted as an icebreaker.

You'll learn about its predecessor, which was an auxiliary cruise ship for the Portuguese Navy during World War I, as well as the vessel's rich history and secrets of its voyages.
