Come with us on this glittering tour that takes you back in time to the days when emperors and kings amassed fabulous collections of great art and exquisite jewels. On this trip you have the opportunity to view the sumptuous treasures of the House of Habsburg when you visit the outstanding collection in the Kunstkammer, a museum situated within the Kunsthistorisches Museum.

The Kunstkammer collection is considered one of the most important of its kind in the world and has only recently been reopened for public viewing in 2013. The 2,200 piece collection is mainly based on the Habsburgs long and passionate tradition of collecting the fabulous and exotic, the rare and the curious. This truly impressive collection which contains such masterpieces as Cellini’s Saliera – a golden crafted salt cellar centre piece, and imperial works of art by the great Rubens, Rembrandt, Raphael, Velazquez, Titian and Durer is sure to capture your imagination and stay with you forever.

Our quest for treasure continues when we visit the world’s most valuable collection of imperial artefacts belonging to the House of Habsburg. This magnificent collection of secular and ecclesiastical treasures contains the majestic Austrian crown jewels including the Imperial Crown of Austria, the Holy Lance and Imperial sword and the chain of The Order of the Golden Fleece. Among ecclesiastical contains many devotional images and alters mainly from the Baroque period as well as sumptuous jewels and the largest cut emerald in the world.
