On this day trip to the Mauthausen concentration camp, we will remember the events that occurred at one of the largest labor camps of the Third Reich.

Tour Details

At the scheduled time, we will meet at Albertinaplatz and depart Vienna for a day trip to the Mauthausen concentration camp.

During the journey, we will discuss one of the largest labor camps of the Third Reich. From 1938 to 1945, around 200,000 people from across Europe were imprisoned, with approximately half of them losing their lives. Mauthausen serves as a reminder of Austria's darker history.

After a 2-hour drive, we will arrive in Upper Austria and enter Mauthausen, where you will receive an audio guide to explore the site's rooms. The tour covers the historical context and what life was like in the camp before its liberation in May 1945.

You will have around 3 hours and 40 minutes to visit the training yard, barracks, kitchen, the Wiener-Graben quarry, Death Stairs, SS quarters, and the gas chamber.

You can also use this time to have lunch on your own at the Memorial's bistro. We will then start the return journey and conclude the excursion at the meeting point approximately eight and a half hours later.
