Tour Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the main entrance of the Upper Belvedere Palace to start our guided tour. The Belvedere Palace, built in the 18th century by Prince Eugene of Savoy, is a significant Baroque palace complex designed by Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt. The Upper and Lower Belvedere are connected by a garden, with the Upper Belvedere serving originally as a reception and banquet hall, reflecting French and Italian influences.
Today, the palace houses one of Austria’s finest art collections. Accompanied by our guide, we'll visit the Art Gallery, showcasing artwork from medieval times to the 19th century. Highlights include works by Monet, Van Gogh, Munch, Goya, Schiele, and the largest collection of Gustav Klimt, featuring “The Kiss”, “Judith”, and “Sonja Knips”.
Next, we will visit the Marble Hall, where the Austrian State Treaty was signed in 1955, featuring a fresco by Carlo Carlone from 1723. Afterwards, we'll stroll through the palace gardens, which have fountains, statues, and flowerbeds, offering views of the palace and the city of Vienna.
The tour lasts a total of 1.5 to 2 hours.
