Sail along the coast of São Miguel and explore the diverse wildlife of this Azores island on a birdwatching boat tour.

Azores Marine Birdwatching Expedition

We will meet at 8 am at the port in Vila Franca do Campo. Our briefing will cover the birds of the Azores, an archipelago known for its ornithological variety.

After gaining insight into key bird species and their migratory patterns, we will embark on a zodiac tour along the coast of São Miguel, where the largest bird colonies reside. Accompanied by a naturalist guide, we will learn to identify endemic birds.

During the journey, we will observe sandpipers, shearwaters, egrets, and native species such as buzzards. High-precision binoculars will be provided for viewing details from the boat.

We will continue towards Vila Franca do Campo Islet, where we may encounter additional Azorean birds like wagtails. You will learn to identify these small birds, known for their seasonal feather color changes.

We will return to the departure pier by 11 am.
