Experience the stunning coastline of São Miguel while exploring the diverse birdlife of this remarkable Azores island on an exceptional birdwatching boat tour, an essential excursion for enthusiasts.

Marine Birdwatching Adventure in the Azores

Our journey commences at 8 am at the harbor in Vila Franca do Campo. Situated on the southern side of São Miguel Island, the dock serves as the starting point where you will receive an insightful introduction to the avian species of the Azores. This archipelago in the Atlantic boasts an impressive variety of birdlife.

Following the introduction to predominant bird species and their migratory patterns, we will embark on a zodiac expedition along the stunning coast of São Miguel. Here, we will navigate the southern shoreline, where some of the largest bird colonies reside. A knowledgeable naturalist guide will accompany us, helping to identify the unique endemic birds of the Azores.

As we glide along the coast of São Miguel, keep an eye out for sandpipers, shearwaters, and egrets, alongside other native species like buzzards. High-quality binoculars will be provided to enhance your viewing experience, allowing you to observe these fascinating birds in detail from the water.

Continuing our zodiac adventure, we will visit the Vila Franca do Campo Islet, where additional Azorean birds, including wagtails, can be spotted. You’ll discover how to recognize these small creatures, particularly known for their seasonal plumage changes.

Our tour will conclude at 11 am as we make our way back to the departure pier.
