Excursion to the Towns of Boyacá
We'll meet at the indicated time on Carrera 9 in Villa de Leyva and begin our tour of the towns of the department of Boyacá.
The first stop will be in Paipa for a guided tour of the historic center, including the San Miguel Arcángel Church. Next, we will visit the Vargas reservoir to see the Monument to the Lancers and discuss the battle during the independence struggle of New Granada.
Then, we will proceed to the colonial town of Iza to explore its historic houses and visit the Franciscan El Divino Salvador Church. Following this, we'll head to Tota Lagoon, the largest freshwater reservoir in Colombia, for a delicious lunch featuring trout and a drink. A boat ride around the lagoon is also available.
We will then continue to Tibasosa, taking a guided tour of the main park, the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception, and the Parish of Our Lady of the Rosary, which has elements dating back to the 16th century. Additionally, we will visit local bakeries to learn about the use of feijoa in local gastronomy.
