Excursion to the Towns of Boyacá
We'll meet at the indicated time on Carrera 9 in Villa de Leyva and embark on a tour through the towns of the department of Boyacá.
Our first stop will be in Paipa, where we'll take a guided tour of the historic center to see its cobblestone streets and the San Miguel Arcángel Church. Afterward, we'll visit the Vargas reservoir to see the Monument to the Lancers and discuss the battle during the independence struggle of New Granada.
Next, we'll continue to Iza to admire its historic houses and visit the Franciscan El Divino Salvador Church. After this, we'll head to Tota Lagoon, the largest freshwater reservoir in Colombia, where we'll have a delicious lunch with trout and a drink. Optionally, you can take a boat ride around the lagoon.
We'll then travel to Tibasosa for a guided tour of the main park, the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception, and the Parish of Our Lady of the Rosary, which has vestiges from the 16th century. We'll also visit traditional bakeries to learn about the use of feijoa in local gastronomy.
Our last stop will be at Pueblito Boyacense, showcasing replicas of typical houses of Boyacá. Finally, we'll return to Villa de Leyva, with an approximate arrival 13 hours after pickup.
