Tour Details
At your chosen time, we'll meet in front of the Selina Hotel and start our guided tour of Villa de Leyva. This town in the Boyacá region is known for its beauty.
From there, we'll walk towards the main square, which features Our Lady of the Rosary Church, a fountain, and cobbled roads, creating a timeless atmosphere. Villa de Leyva's square is one of the largest in South America, contributing to its designation as a National Monument.
Next, we'll discuss the town's origins, reaching back to prehistoric times. Villa de Leyva hosts three museums showcasing Cretaceous fossils and dinosaur sculptures discovered in the region, including the most complete pliosaur specimen found globally.
We will also admire the colonial architecture by strolling through streets with colourful balconies, noting how many mansions have been transformed into craft shops and charming hotels, adding to the allure of this town in the Eastern Cordillera of the Andes.
After 2 hours 30 minutes of exploring the historical section, we will conclude our tour in the town centre.
