On this hiking route through Cucunubá, we will explore the landscapes of the Ubaté Valley, located in the Eastern Cordillera of Colombia.
Cucunubá Hiking Tour
The tour will begin at 8 am at the main park of Ubaté. We will embark on a hiking route covering 5 km (3 miles) to discover the diverse landscapes of the Eastern Cordillera of Colombia.
During the hike, participants will encounter various wildlife, including deer, Andean condors, and eagles. This area is home to approximately 180 different species of birds, so observers should be alert for sightings.
The route will lead to notable sites, including the Cucunubá lagoon. While traversing the Colombian páramo, we will share myths and legends related to the region.
We will also visit a waterfall by the lagoon, historically significant for native activities. Discussions will include the role of wool production in the region, highlighting that Cucunubá is known for its high-quality textiles made from Creole sheep wool.
The tour will conclude at 2 pm back at the meeting point in Ubaté.
