Higüey & Sugar Cane Fields Safari

Sugar cane plantations, tobacco, tropical fruits, and one of the most colorful markets in the Dominican Republic await on the safari of Higüey and the sugar cane fields.

Safari Details

At the designated time, pickup from your hotel will occur. Participants will board a safari truck for a 40-minute ride to Higüey. Upon arrival, the exploration of the town's traditional market will begin, lasting 45 minutes, featuring stalls with fruits, vegetables, and meats. Afterward, a visit to a cigar factory will provide insights into the production process.

The safari continues through the sugar cane plantations of Bayahibe, discussing the various uses of sugar cane and the lifestyle of local communities. The trapiche system, which produces Dominican rum, will also be covered. A visit to a typical ranch deep in the Dominican jungle will follow, where lunch will be served by the river, including cocoa, manioc, tropical fruits, and Dominican salami, with a drink option of soft drink, rum, or water.

Before returning to La Romana, participants will enjoy a small boat ride along the river and have the opportunity to take a refreshing dip. The trip concludes after a total of 8.5 hours, with drop-off at your hotel.
