Excursion to Oxapampa

We will convene at 8 am at Leopoldo Krausse Avenue in Villa Rica. From there, we will embark on a scenic journey to the enchanting village of Oxapampa, with a travel time of approximately an hour and a half.

Upon arrival, we will proceed with a guided exploration of Oxapampa, where you will discover its compelling history. It is noteworthy that this town was established by Austro-German settlers, marking it as the second colony of its type after the nearby town of Pozuzo.

As we stroll through the village, you will admire the distinctive wooden structures, mostly featuring European-style architecture. A highlight of our visit will be the Santa Rosa Church, a true gem of German colonial design.

Next, we will make a stop at a handicraft shop where you can pick up some lovely souvenirs, followed by a visit to the Floralp dairy facility. Here, you will witness the production process of their exquisite goods, featuring an extensive range of cheeses and yogurts.

In continuation, we will head to the Wharapo, a traditional mill where the extraction of sugar cane juice occurs for making traditional drinks. You will have the opportunity to sample a selection of these delightful beverages!

After exploring the factory, we will venture into the remarkable Selva Encantadora de Oxapampa (the Enchanted Jungle of Oxapampa). During this segment, we will delve into the Tunki Cave, a small cavern adorned with stalactites and stalagmites amidst lush greenery.

To conclude our day, we will visit a ranch where you can enjoy some leisure time with activities such as canoeing or horseback riding. After making the most of your time in Oxapampa, we will return to Villa Rica, ensuring you are back at the starting point by around 6 pm.
